Although I am more than ready for spring, it seems the northern hemisphere is not. Need proof? Cast your gaze here, here, and here.
After threatening as much as three inches accumulation of snow and ice in the DC metro area, we had to settle for about 14 snowflakes and a wee bitty small amount of ice. That melted immediately. I, you must understand, am not complaining about the lack of snow. What I want to complain about is the counterproductive hype, the collective immediate 30+ point IQ drop at the mere mention of snow, and the dreary gray day that has followed the non-snow evert. Stupid winter weather. Get on with spring already. Sheesh.

Ooh! I know! It’s a purty bird.
The bird is a rufus sided towhee, known as a “towink” in Virginia and a “cherank” in North Carolina. Normen called it an English sparrow because its call sounds like it is saying,”Drink you teeea.”
Ah. I suppose I could have looked that up since Dad so kindly bought me a bird book but … uh, I didn’t. Thanks RJ.
